Government bans 59 mobile apps

New Delhi : The Ministry of Information Technology, invoking it’s power under section 69A of the Information Technology Act read with the relevant provisions of the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules 2009 and in view of the emergent nature of threats has decided to block 59 apps (see Appendix) since in view of information available they are engaged in activities which is prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order, says press release from Government.

Department of Telecommunications announces ‘5G Hackathon’

New Delhi : In its endeavour to identify and promote applications relevant to India in the 5G realm, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has launched ‘5G Hackathon’ in association with a number of government, academia& industry stakeholders.  Aimed at shortlisting India focused cutting edge ideas that can be converted into workable 5G products and solutions, the Hackathon will be spread across three phases beginning from February 21, 2020 and culminate in a grand felicitation ceremony at India Mobile Congress on October 16, 2020.

Vice President emphasizes the need for ethical Corporate Governance in Indian industry

Jamshedpur : The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu today emphasizes the need for ethical corporate governance in Indian Industry.

Speaking at the centenary year celebrations of the Jamshedpur city, the Vice President said that some people took undue advantage of the system, and industry has a duty to eschew such elements.

Observing that a company’s ethics, values, and social responsibility play an important role in building its reputation, Shri Naidu said that conducting business in an ethical manner builds confidence among customers and investors.

31st January 2020 deadline for voluntary disclosure of information of drones flying in India

New Delhi : In order to facilitate the identification of civil drones and drone operators, a one-time opportunity for voluntary disclosure of such drones and drone operators is now being provided by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA).
