The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the results of the third edition of its global hackathon, HaRBInger – Innovation for Transformation 2024, which focused on the themes ‘Zero Financial Frauds’ and ‘Being Divyang Friendly’. The initiative sought innovative solutions to enhance security in digital finance and improve accessibility for persons with disabilities.

According to the RBI, the hackathon received 534 proposals, including 39 entries from international teams across countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Singapore, Brazil, and Morocco. The event was conducted in three phases, starting with a shortlisting of 70 entries, which was further narrowed to 28 teams—seven for each problem statement—during the solution development stage.

Over a period of eight weeks, the shortlisted teams worked on prototypes and proofs of concept under the mentorship of external experts. Each team received a stipend to support solution development costs.

The final evaluation was held on January 2–3, 2025, in Bengaluru, where the 28 finalists presented their solutions to an independent jury. Winners were selected based on innovation, comprehensiveness, feasibility, scalability, and compliance.

The grand finale took place on January 4, 2025, attended by senior banking officials, industry leaders, academicians, and FinTech founders. Deputy Governor T. Rabi Sankar presented the awards to the winning teams.
