The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today inaugurated the 5th Digital Payments Awareness Week (DPAW), highlighting the importance of cybersecurity, cyber law compliance, and protection of digital payment users. The initiative runs from March 10 to 16, 2025 under the mission “Har Payment Digital” with the theme “India Pays Digitally”, reflecting the country’s push toward a safe and secure digital payments ecosystem.

During his address, the RBI Governor acknowledged the progress in digital payments adoption but stressed that safe and secure usage remains critical. He urged banks, payment operators, media, and users to actively follow cyber laws and cybersecurity best practices, such as secure authentication, encrypted transactions, and vigilance against fraud and phishing attacks.

The awareness week includes nationwide campaigns, on-ground educational programs, and social media outreach to educate citizens about safe digital payment practices. To further engage the public, RBI has announced two competitions encouraging creative participation:

Har Payment Digital Short Video Contest
Har Payment Digital Comic Strip Contest

These contests aim to promote awareness of digital payment safety, cyber risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance, with attractive prizes for the best entries.

RBI emphasized that cybersecurity and protection of digital financial data are crucial for building trust in India’s growing digital economy and for ensuring compliance with relevant cyber laws and regulations.
