Govt. initiates steps for notifying National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre

New Delhi: Defence Minister A.K. Antony informed Rajya Sabha today in a written reply that only one instance of attempted hacking on computers belonging to Defence sector has come to notice in the past three years. There were intelligence reports in November 2011 about the probable compromise of computers of Eastern Naval Command based in Visakhapatnam. However, none of these computers were found to be compromised. The Defence Services have a robust defensive mechanism in place.

Government blocks 245 web pages hosting Inflamatory Content

New Delhi: Inflammatory and harmful content/information found to be appearing on the social networking sites hosted outside the country. Bulk of the content/information, which contained images and videos mostly morphed, aimed at targeting people of North East. Most of the content were taken from events unrelated to the incident occurred in Assam. Hosting of such morphed image/video led to a lot of inciting comments from users on the blogs hosting such morphed images/videos and circulation of hate SMSes.

Home Minister Expresses Concern on Social Media Networking Sites being Misused by Elements Based in Pakistan

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has expressed concern to his Pakistani counterpart over the issue of social media-networking sites being misused by elements based in Pakistan to circulate false pictures and stories so as to whip up communal sentiments in India and has sought Pakistan’s full cooperation in checking and neutralizing such elements. Shinde expressed these views when Rehman Malik, Interior Minister of Pakistan spoke to him today over telephone. This was the first direct contact between the two Ministers.

Government Disconnects over 51,000 Numbers of Telemarketers

New Delhi: Minister of State for Communications & Information Technology Milind Deora informed Rajya Sabha yesterday in a written reply that, the Government has disconnected over 51,000 telephone numbers of such subscribers who had not registered as a telemarketer but were doing telemarketing activities. Notices have been seved on nearly 88,300 subscribers who have carried out similar violations.
