BSNL Website with other 112 Government Websites Hacked in last Three Months

New Delhi: Shri Sachin Pilot, the Minister of State, Communication and Information Technology in response to a question in Lok Sabha stated that the website of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (www.bsnl.co.in) was hacked on 4th December, 2011 by the ‘H4tr!ck’ hacker group. In addition, during the period December, 2011 to February, 2012 a total no. of 112 Government websites were hacked.

Unlawful Interception is a Punishable Offence- Milind Deora

New Delhi: Shri Milind Deora, the Minister of State, Communication and Information Technology in response to a question in Lok Sabha today stated that "The Government has mandated all the Telecom Service Providers and the Internet Service Providers to provide the Lawful Interception and Monitoring facilities to the security agencies for all the services including Blackberry Messenger (BBM), Nokia, Pushmail, Skype, Yahoo, Gmail etc as a part of their license agreement.

Revised SOP for Lawful Interception of Communication

New Delhi: Shri Jitendra Singh, Minister of State of Home Affairs in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today stated that "The Central Government, with regard to Central Intelligence and Security Agencies, keeps updating the internal SOPs/instructions for processing, executing and conducting oversight of interceptions of telephones. The Government constituted an Inter-Ministerial Group headed by Home Secretary to consider issues relating to institutional frame work of Government for interception of messages/tapping of telephones, e-mail etc.

TEMA India Raises Concern about the US Assistant Trade Representative's letter to DoT

New Delhi: The Telecom Equipment Manufacturers Association (TEMA) of India, in a communication to the Secretary, Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India, have expressed their dismay over the recent media reports about the letter from the US Assistant Trade Representative suggesting India should take a soft stand on national security issues as far as the Indian telecommunication industry is concerned.
