Standing committee on information technology invites suggestions from public

New Delhi : The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology, headed by Rao Inderjit Singh, MP, Lok Sabha is examining various aspects related to the subject ‘Norms for setting up of telecom towers, its harmful effects and Setting up Security Standard in expansion of telecom facilities.’

Four arrested for unauthorisedly obtaining Call Data Records of Arun Jaitley

New Delhi : Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde made a statement in the Rajya Sabha today on the issue of unauthorisedly obtaining Call Data Records of Arun Jaitley, Hon’ble Leader of Opposition. Shinde in his statement said that, in the case being investigated by the Delhi Police, there was an attempt at unauthorisedly trying to access the call data record i.e. details of numbers called and received and duration of the conversation. This was not a case of telephone tapping.

Government to Prefer Domestically Manufactured Laptop, PCs and Tablets

New Delhi: The Government has notified the policy for providing preference to domestically manufactured electronic products in procurement due to security considerations and in Government procurement vide Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) Notification No.8(78)/2010-IPHW dated 10.2.2012. This is one of the strategies contained in the National Policy on Electronics (NPE 2012) approved by the Government for promoting the domestic Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) Industry in the country.

ISACA Releases Guidance on Securing Sensitive Personal Data

Mumbai: ISACA, a non-profit global association of more than 100,000 IT audit, security, risk and governance professionals, today released a guide to help Indian enterprises secure sensitive data and comply with India's IT Act. Titled Securing Sensitive Personal Data or Information Under India's IT Act Using COBIT 5, the book will educate business and IT leaders and other key stakeholders on the importance of securing sensitive personal data or information (SPDI) as required by India's Information Technology Amendment Act, 2008.

Govt to setup Independent Regulator for Auditors

New Delhi: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance which examined the Companies Bill, 2009 and the Companies Bill, 2011 had recommended that the National Advisory Committee on Accounting and Auditing Standards (NACAAS), proposed in the Companies Bill, 2009, be institutionalized not only as a body for setting up auditing standards but also as a quasi-regulatory body for generally supervising the quality of audit undertaken.
