Bengaluru: Gear yourself up for three consecutive days of learning and exciting time with 3,000+ open source innovators, enthusiasts, and gurus at Bengaluru's NIMHANS Convention Centre. The technology world is looking at open source technology for future innovations. Thus, the 8th edition of OSI Days, which will run through 22 November 2011, becomes even more important. It aims to commemorate and celebrate the true spirit of open source, and strengthen and consolidate the Indian open source community.
The event will be inaugurated by Ramesh Chopra, founder and editor, Electronics For You. Regunath Balasubramanian, principal architect of the Govt of India UIDAI project, will be the guest of honour at this year's event.
Balasubramanian will talk about Use of OSS in Aadhaar project - The World's Largest Identity Platform. He will discuss how OSS has been used in a project of national importance where hundreds of terabytes of data is processed to issue millions of UIDs to residents.
Open Source India (OSI) is the largest open source conference in Asia, targeted at nurturing and promoting the open source ecosystem in the subcontinent. Started as Linux Asia in 2004, OSI has been at the helm while bringing together the open source industry and the community, over the last eight years. The 8th edition of OSI this year aims to take this event a notch higher by focusing on the open source ecosystem in Asia, and more specifically in India.
The convention also aims to provide a BIG opportunity to open source lovers to interact with the gurus from the world of Linux and open source.
The special highlights of the 3-day convention (http://2011.osidays.com/osidays_schedule.html) would cover special tracks such as 'FOSS For Everyone', 'PHP Days', 'Kernel Day', 'Database Days', 'Mobile Apps Development', 'Web Apps Development' and 'FOSS For Developers'.
Tobias Schlitt, PHP expert and co-founder, Qafoo GmbH; Alessandro Nadalin, software agilist in DNSEE, an Italian firm based in Rome; Arne Blankerts, co-founder and principal consultant at thePHP.cc, Germany; Hugo Hamon, a PHP geek for 10 years and training manager at the SensioLabs company, Paris, France; Sebastian Bergmann, creator of PHPUnit and co-founder of thePHP.cc at thePHP.cc; Jason Levitt, director of the Kaltura Developer Network at Kaltura, in Austin, USA; Bastian Feder, senior developer and quality coach for the Liip Inc, Zürich, Switzerland; and Arne Blankerts, co-founder and principal consultant at thePHP.cc, are but a few of the international luminaries who will be sharing their knowledge with the Indian open source community at the event.
