Mumbai: Being the World’s first full format TV show online, Jay Hind! has always made news for its pioneering efforts in the entertainment space. The show is hugely popular among Indians across the world and is nearing 100 million hits online. The growing popularity of the show led to the show’s website – Jayhind.tv being hacked by anti-India fundamentalists. The website went down after an attack by ‘Free Kashmir’ Islamic fundamentalists killed the original show links and posted their own subversive messages and pictures on the site’s homepage.

Speaking about the incident, Abhigyan Jha, Creator & Director of Jay Hind! and Founder & CEO of Undercover Productions Ltd. said, “Jay Hind! is uniquely scripted, uncensored and has an unabashed humorous take on fundamentalism of all kinds, across the board. Although this has been a major factor in its unparalleled success, we were getting some threatening messages over the last few months. We also recently enhanced the format of the show with one episode each month being completely in English. This International edition called BLTN caters to our global audience and could have probably triggered this attack.”

Jay Hind! has probably become the first Indian entertainment entity to face hacking. But in the show’s signature tongue-in-cheek style humor, the official @Jayhind tweet announcing the hacking said: “Jayhind.tv was hacked today by anti-India fundamentalists. If we were Arindam Chaudhari, we’d have sued the World Wide Web.”

On a serious note however it would make sense for the host of the show Sumeet Raghavan to get round the clock police protection to negate any untoward incident. He said, “It’s unfortunate that people find a way of bringing negativity even in something which is intended to make people laugh. We will continue our efforts to add humour to the lives of our fans across the world.”
