The Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today launched the Mission “Har Payment Digital” as part of the Digital Payments Awareness Week (DPAW) 2023, observed from March 6 to 12, 2023. The initiative aims to make every citizen in India a user of digital payments. The theme for this year’s campaign is “Digital Payment Apnao, Auron ko bhi Sikhao” (Adopt digital payments and also teach others).
Governor of RBI emphasized that digital payments bring speed, convenience, safety, and security to financial transactions. While the existing infrastructure has made digital payments widely available, the focus now is on increasing awareness and adoption across the country.
During the launch, the Governor appealed to all stakeholders – including banks, non-banks, payment system operators, and users of digital payments – to adopt and promote digital payment usage. This, he said, would encourage every citizen to become a digital payment user and help others understand the benefits of digital payments.
