The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the launch of its second global hackathon, “HARBINGER 2023 – Innovation for Transformation,” with a central focus on promoting inclusive digital services. The initiative is designed to encourage innovators and fintech developers to create solutions that make digital financial services more accessible, efficient and future-ready.
HARBINGER 2023 seeks to drive advancements in areas that can significantly strengthen the digital financial ecosystem. The hackathon emphasizes the development of digital banking tools that cater to individuals with disabilities, improved regulatory technology for more efficient compliance, practical applications for retail Central Bank Digital Currency—including offline transaction capabilities—and new approaches to enhance blockchain scalability and throughput.
Participants in the hackathon will gain access to mentorship from industry leaders and the opportunity to present their solutions before an expert jury. The program offers substantial rewards, with the winner receiving ₹40 lakh and the runner-up ₹20 lakh.
