Shri Shaktikanta Das, Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, held a meeting with select FinTech entities, including AgriTechs, and their industry associations on December 14, 2022. The meeting was also attended by Shri M. K. Jain, Deputy Governor, and senior RBI officials.
In his opening remarks, the Governor emphasized the transformative role of FinTechs and start-ups in India’s financial ecosystem through digital innovations and novel delivery models. He highlighted RBI’s supportive stance in fostering responsible innovation while advising FinTechs to focus on governance, business conduct, data protection, customer centricity, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation frameworks.
The Governor reiterated RBI’s commitment to a consultative approach in facilitating innovation in the financial sector. Participants also shared suggestions to enhance the FinTech ecosystem and deepen its impact across the country.
