The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced a nation-wide consumer financial awareness programme scheduled for November 2022. Building on its earlier initiatives, including the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” campaign featuring Ombudsman Speak and Ombudsman Talkathon events, the programme aims to deepen public understanding of financial rights, safe banking practices, and grievance redress mechanisms.
Conducted in collaboration with RBI-regulated entities, the campaign will target all segments of the population, with special emphasis on rural and semi-urban areas. The outreach will be regionally customised to ensure effective engagement and comprehension.
The programme will focus on increasing awareness about customer rights, protection mechanisms, and grievance redress frameworks. Additionally, it will educate consumers on safeguarding against digital and electronic financial transaction frauds, covering practical dos and don’ts, preventive measures, and safety protocols.
Through these efforts, RBI aims to strengthen financial literacy and empower customers to engage safely and confidently with the banking and digital payments ecosystem.
