Mumbai : Maharashtra Cyber is specialized department created by government of Maharashtra to deal with cyber crime and Cyber Security in the state of Maharashtra. Maharashtra is financial and commercial capital of the nation. Many financial and regulatory organizations work from Mumbai.
Maharashtra is also leading in digital India initiative and creating infrastructure to give benefits of the Internet and Information and communication technology, online payments to all citizens of Maharashtra. Mobile phones are increasingly used for bill payments and online banking in rural and urban areas.
Phishing (over web, phone, OTP SMS, etc) has emerged to be one of the most extensively used means by cybercriminals to deceive online users. Hundreds of people get called by fraudsters everyday in an attempt to defraud them. Most individuals having an email or cell phone may have come across a number of phishing mails / calls etc.

Cyber Crimes are increasing every year. In 2018, Phishing accounts for half of all Cyber incidences world over.
Maharashtra Cyber is taking proactive measures to prevent phishing and cyber crimes. Maharashtra Cyber will address this problem by bringing together all relevant stakeholders on a single platform.
Maharashtra Cyber with technical support of NCPI has initiated a Anti-Phishing portal namely www.reportphishing.in
From tomorrow people will be able report the attempts of phishing and cyber scams on this platform. It will be coordination point to inform concerned institutions and agencies about such attempts to prevent the further monetary loss of the victim.
This portal will coordinate with nodals of various ISPs, Telcos, Banks, Regulators, LEAs, International Bodies, etc. to help expedite resolution of such cases.
Once informed, the portal will alert the banks, Telcos, financial institutions and other Internet intermediaries involved in a timely manner so as to protect the citizen from fraud.
It also focus on awareness building against phishing and other financial frauds among all sections of society with key focus on vulnerable sections like senior citizens, rural population, etc.
Maharashtra is first state to create such initiative in the country. Maharashtra state is creating state of the art cyber security infrastructure and measures through other projects like Maharashtra Cyber Security project, Automated multimodal biometric identification system, Antipiracy project, CCTV project etc.
Shri Devendra Fadnavis honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra today inaugurated the portal. Shri Fadnavis hailed the Maharashtra Police Cyber and other stakeholders for this timely initiatives to curb cybercrime in Maharashtra. Shri. Brijesh Singh, Inspector General of Police, Cyber introduced the initiative. Shri Balsing Rajput and Shri Sachin Pandkar, Superintendent of Police, were also present. Shri. Kathik Saboo and Ganesh Gite helped to develop the portal. Shri. Bharat Panchal, NPCI, J.K.Thakur (SBI), Anil Kuril (UNION BANK), Shailesh Verma (AXIS BANK), Manish Agrawal (HDFC BANK) were also present and are supporting the portal.
