New Delhi: Department of Information Technology, Government of India, in partnership with NASSCOM, is organizing a series of 50 e-Governance Consultation Workshops in States and Union Territories under the banner of “Citizen Centric e-Government”. In this series, a workshop is being organized at Nagpur on 22 June 2012.
Anil Deshmukh, Minister of Food and Civil Supplies, Government of Maharashtra, will inaugurate the consultative workshop on the topic, “Citizen Centric e-Government”, at Hotel Tuli Imperial, Nagpur, on Friday, June 22, 2012. Smt. Fauzia Khan, Minister of General Administration, Dr. Nitin Raut, Minister of Animal Husbandry, Government of Maharashtra, Smt. Rita Teotia, Additional Secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Government of India, and Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary, Department of IT, Government of Maharashtra, will be the other speakers at the event. During the daylong workshop, the Maharashtra Government will showcase e-government solutions implemented in department of Taxes, Revenue and Forest, Registrations and Stamps and the office of Divisional Commissioner, Nagpur. The Nagpur workshop will be attended by key stakeholders of the National e-Governance Plan, which will be drawn from Central and State Government, e-governance consultants, technology partners and implementing agencies.
This consultative meet is amongst the 50 workshops being organised in all States and Union Territories (UTs) across India. This series of workshops is being organised to amplify the mission and message of the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) - "Public Services Closer Home". With many states in various stages of rolling out public services on the e-government platform, the NeGP Apex Committee had decided to create awareness about NeGP initiatives among stakeholders, discuss challenges in delivery of e-services, identify state specific issues and understand emerging technologies from Industry. The string of workshops will cover all state Capitals, UTs and some important cities by July 2012. The first workshop was hosted in National Capital Territory of Delhi in July 2011 and the workshop in Nagpur is 16th in the series.
