Planning commission constitutes a Group of Experts on Privacy Issuse

New Delhi: Planning commission has constituted a Small Group of Experts under the Chairmanship of Justice A.P.Shah, Former Chief Justice, Delhi High Court to identify the privacy issues and prepare a paper to facilitate authoring the Privacy Bill.

The 12 member group includes ShriR.S.Sharma, DG UIDAI, Dr.GulshanRai, Director General CERT – In, DIT, Sh. Rajiv Kapoor, JS, DOPT, Sh. Som Mittal, President, NASSCOM, Ms.Barkha Dutt, NDTV, Dr. (Ms) Usha Ramanathan, Researcher &Advovate, Sh. Pranesh Prakash, Programme Manager, Centre for Internet & Society, Dr.Kamlesh Bajaj, CEO, Data Security Council of India (DSCI), Dr.Nagesh Singh, Adviser, Planning Commission and Sh. R.K.Gupta, Adviser, Planning Commission.

The group will study the Privacy laws and related bills promulgated by various countries. It will also make an in-depth analysis of various programmes being implemented by Gol from the point of view of their impact on Privacy and also make specific suggestions for consideration of the DOPT for incorporation in the proposed draft Bill on Privacy. The group will submit its report by 31st March 2012.
