National Security Advisor to Release Joint Working Group Report on Cyber Security

New Delhi: India’s current economic, social & infrastructure development process is making greater use of ICT for bringing transformation. However, this dependence on ICT makes the country vulnerable to cyber attacks that can have serious implications for both, the nation and economy. This underlines the urgent need to address the risks emanating from operating in cyberspace.

New Delhi: The 7th Annual Convention of the Central Information Commission commenced with inauguration of the event by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh. Cabinet Approves Amendments in the "Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986"

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet today approved the introduction of Amendments to the "Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986" in Parliament.

Key amendments proposed are as follows:

i. Broaden the scope of the law to cover the audio-visual media and material in electronic form.

President condemns anti-Islam video on YouTube

New Delhi: The President of India said, "I condemn in the strongest of terms the making of the offensive video and its dissemination through social media. India can never condone any act which disparages religious sentiments or hurts religious feelings. The Ministry of External Affairs is in touch with US officials who share our concerns on the matter. Google India has in compliance with Indian law, blocked access to the offensive material."

UIDAI’s Iris Authentication proof of concept study successful

New Delhi : The UIDAI has successfully conducted the proof of concept Iris authentication study in Mysore district of Karnataka. The study brought out the high accuracy levels (above 99.2%) achieved by iris authentication. A combination of iris and fingerprint authentication can further the goals of universal inclusion and pave the way for successful applications based on Aadhaar authentication.
