117 Government Websites Hacked during January - June 2011

Delhi: The Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, Shri Sachin Pilot today informed the Lok Sabha in written reply to a question that a total of 117 Government websites were defaced during the period January - June, 2011. All the affected organizations and departments were requested to provide web server logs of hacked websites for analysis and identifying nature and type of attack and vulnerabilities exploited by the hacker.

Intermediaries Guidelines Rules, 2011 formulated after wide consultation: IT Minister

Delhi: News items had appeared in media on certain aspects of the Intermediaries Guidelines Rules, 2011 notified on 11.4.2011 under Information Technology Act, 2000. The media had projected that the rules violate the principle of freedom of expression and enable the government to regulate content.
