Asia Leapfrogs Europe to Become Top Spam Continent, Sophos Reports

Mumbai: IT security and control firm Sophos, has published its latest report into the top twelve spam relaying countries, covering the first quarter of 2011.

Despite remaining at the top, the USA’s proportion of the global spam output fell significantly from 18.83% to 13.7% of all spam relayed from compromised computers. The United Kingdom also saw a drop, with its spam pollution falling from 4.54% to 3.2% of total global spam relayed, the UK moving down from fifth to sixth place in the dirty dozen.

Ministry of Home Affairs has invited bids for setting up Communications Monitoring facility at all the State capitals, on turnkey basis.

Communications Monitoring facility will be setup at all the State capitals with facilities to monitor Voice Calls, SMS & MMS, GPRS and FAX communications on Landlines (PSTN), CDMA and GSM networks. The system across all the States will be compatible and interoperable.

Under the powers conferred by clause (ob) of sub-section (2) of section 87 read with section 43A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, on 11th April 2011 Department of Information Technology notified rules for protection of sensitive personal information.
