Lawful Interception and Monitoring enabled for the Security Agencies in India

New Delhi: The security agencies are able to access the telecom services including Blackberry through the lawful interception and Monitoring facilities provided by the Telecom Service Provider. However, Security Agencies have intimated that they are not able to decrypt some of encrypted communication to a readable format.

Government does not regulate content of sites hosted on Internet: Sachin Pilot

New Delhi: A reply given by Shri Sachin Pilot, the minister of State in the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology in response to a question in Lok Sabha had highlighted that " Internet has emerged as an online medium / platform to enable users to share ideas, activities & events and express views/opinions on specific topics / events. Several groups and individuals have hosted content on Internet for a variety of purposes, which may be liked by one section of society and used gainfully. Such sites can be accessed by all sections of users.

State Governments are Primarily Responsible for Tackling Cyber Crimes : Jitendra Singh

New Delhi: Jitendra Singh, Minister of State of Home Affairs in written reply in the Lok Sabha today stated that "The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has a specific unit, which deals with the cyber crime cases falling under the jurisdiction of the Union Territories. The Cyber Crime Investigation Cell (CCIC) set up by CBI, investigates cyber crime cases and help respective police organizations in implementation of laws addressing cyber crime and cyber frauds.

Large number of phishing incidents leading to hacking of bank accounts have been reported

Delhi: According to written reply of Shri Sachin Pilot, the Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology to a question in Rajya Sabha, a large number of phishing incidents leading to hacking of bank accounts have also been reported to CERT-In by the banks and financial institutions. A total number of 508 and 386 phishing incidents have been reported to CERT-In in the year 2010 and during January-October, 2011 respectively.
