State Governments are Primarily Responsible for Tackling Cyber Crimes : Jitendra Singh

New Delhi: Jitendra Singh, Minister of State of Home Affairs in written reply in the Lok Sabha today stated that "The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has a specific unit, which deals with the cyber crime cases falling under the jurisdiction of the Union Territories. The Cyber Crime Investigation Cell (CCIC) set up by CBI, investigates cyber crime cases and help respective police organizations in implementation of laws addressing cyber crime and cyber frauds.

Large number of phishing incidents leading to hacking of bank accounts have been reported

Delhi: According to written reply of Shri Sachin Pilot, the Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology to a question in Rajya Sabha, a large number of phishing incidents leading to hacking of bank accounts have also been reported to CERT-In by the banks and financial institutions. A total number of 508 and 386 phishing incidents have been reported to CERT-In in the year 2010 and during January-October, 2011 respectively.

Telecom operators and ISPs deploy monitoring equipment for surveillance of Internet traffic

Delhi: Shri Milind Deora, the Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology informed Lok Sabha today in written to a question that telecom operators and internet service providers are deploying monitoring equipment for surveillance of internet traffic as per the conditions of the respective license agreements and as per the requirements of security agencies. At present, indigenous internet monitoring systems are being deployed in the network of internet service providers.
